Don't forget Army's tallest-ever WR Ali Villanueva will be playing what will probably be his final football game Saturday at the East/West Shrine Game.
It's noted that Villanueva is rooming with Navy's Ross Pospisil while at the All-Star event.
It's nice to see service academy seniors get the chance to extend their career a bit as Villanueva has his eyes fixed on active duty after his graduation.
One last game for Villanueva, it should be fun for all involved. I'll be watching, but I can't find a reliable stream yet. Check back near game time, maybe I'll have something up.While potential draft picks are meeting with NFL scouts and personnel this week in Orlando, Villanueva and Pospisil joke about having a lot of free time. They must serve two years of military duty before then can request a release to pursue a pro football career.
"I'm not asking or pushing for anything," said Villanueva, who is 6-foot-10 and 283 pounds. "I'm always putting the Army first and then the NFL."
Villanueva isn't shying away from his military commitment. He will head to officer training in Fort Benning, Ga., followed by Ranger school after graduation in May.
"I should be assigned to my infantry unit in January or February 2011," Villanueva said.
Go East! Beat West!
