Just a Couple of Things

A site called pregame.com posted a preview of the independents. It's pretty basic as it highlights the known quantities: Ellerson's coaching and Trent Steelman's game.

Here's the bulk of the Army script:

The Rich Ellerson era began with a bang in West Point last year when the Cadets won the most games in a season since 1996. The next step for the new regime will be to lead the Black Knights to their 1st winning season since that 1996 campaign. It shouldn't be an uphill fight as QB Trent Steelman, who started all 12 games last year as a freshman and led the team in rushing and passing yards, returns for his sophomore season. It also doesn't hurt with only four bowlers - and no pre-season Top 25 squads - dotting the 2010 schedule. It's easy to like a coach like Ellerson with his military background and a team whose motto is ‘Duty, Honor, Country' and we look for this military historian to make some history of his own this season. These new-look Cadets have plenty of options - but it's the triple-option that has fans at Michie Stadium buzzing these days.

Ok, plenty of options, sure... but the offseason buzz is clearly surrounding primed transfer Jared Hassin.

For as many neutral site games that Army plays in 2010 I almost forgot that they will be featured at Michie at all this year.

Details aside, it's nice to have something to post here.

Presnapread.com has cracked the top 50 with their Div. 1-A countdown. As it stands, Army now has teams listed from the Black Knights 105th ranked schedule.

Leaving Navy, Air Force Notre Dame and Temple to be added in the future, each somewhere in the top 50. Anyway there you go... eight winnable games, though 5 of those winnable games are on the road.

One last note, Football Outsiders' list of the top 100 college football teams of all time continues with teams 60-41. No Army teams in that bunch, but it is an interesting read nonetheless.
