The team is doing everything it can to stay focused and in the moment. Practices have been closed to the press so the team can focus on the task of capturing their illusive 6th win.
As much as the team is keeping their eyes on the playbook - it is inevitable that media reports are kicking into gear for what looks like the heart of Army's season.
First thing's first... the team plays at Kent State for a bowl bid.
Considering that the next three games represent the crux of the season, it's no surprise that uncharacteristic media sources are picking up on Army's story.
The numerous minute factual errors in this one by the Wall Street Journal reminds me of a Highlights For Children hidden picture puzzle where you have to find a random silly object hidden in an otherwise normal sketch drawing. I guess we can chalk it up to having fun with a purpose.
Another bit of questionable fact checking comes from the New York Times' college football blog Presnap Read.
Item: Army is listed as an automatic qualifier for the Military Bowl - when actually - if eligible Army will be the first choice of the Armed Forces Bowl. Small potatoes, really -but since it can be confusing I thought I would mention. Army is a secondary selection behind Conference USA for the Military Bowl.
If the bowl eligibility angle isn't enough of a distraction there's the preparation of Yankee Stadium for the Notre Dame game.
This pic has been passed around the AP.
Field looks alright, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Big game at Kent State this weekend for the privilege of playing postseason football.

Army's 2010 Armed Forces Bowl tie-in is conditional on either the MWC or C-USA being unable to fill it's commitment for that bowl.
Kent State video feed is available as a one-game purchase -- $6.95
Interesting,..
So what we know is BYU basically needs to lose to Colorado State to make the Armed Forces Bowl a *likely* bowl placement for Army.
That's the last thing I want to do this weekend - have a rooting interest in a CSU/BYU game.
Thanks for the heads up.
