West Virginia's Orange Bowl outburst was incredible, but pales in comparison to a game I found today: Rice 143 - SMU 3 in 1916. The game gave me the impetus to post the Rice yearbooks.
The game's writeup can be found at the bottom of page 128 in the 1917 yearbook. Of note is how delicately the yearbook staff phrased the thrashing of their soon-to-be arch-rival.
There are two repositories of these yearbooks as the Rice library has a downloadable version and the Internet Archive has their traditional searchable online view, as well as options to read the full text or download each yearbook. At both locations yearbooks are available online from 1916-1936. This misses some of Rice's best football years in the 1950's, but I have the feeling that more will be added to this collection in the future.
Take a minute to check out Rice's Campanile yearbooks - another great addition to the yearbook page.
